Five Shot Video Post

This first shot is an extreme closeup of my partner. I held the camera very close to his face to focus on his eyes throughout the scene. The purpose of this shot is to emphasize the facial features and emotions the person in the video as he acts through the scene (i.e. gradually opening eyes and changing posture)

This shot is a low angle shot of a person walking down the stairs. It was slightly difficult trying to capture the angle but it was manageable after a couple times. The purpose behind this shot is to distort size, making the viewer seem smaller than the subject swiftly moving down the stairs, and the subject appears to be moving quicker than they actually are due to the low angle.

This is a medium-full shot of a person sitting on a bench. This was relatively easy, as the only obstruction was the glare from the sky. The purpose of this shot is to show the relation of the person with the environment, portraying the still and calm nature/emotion that is matched between the main character in scene and the scenery.

This is an over-the-shoulder shot of my partner doing his classwork. This too was relatively easy, the only difficulty is focusing the camera from the character's back to the character's paper out of focus. The purpose of this shot is to show and give viewers context on what the person in scene is preoccupied with. Being over the shoulders allows viewers to see the scene from a personal perspective, as if the viewers were a fellow student behind the character. The shot is also used to focus directly on the character's action, showing more context than emotion.

This clip is an overhead shot of my partner walking through a hallway. This was a bit awkward to take because the lighting and position wasn't ideal, but still conveyed the same idea. The purpose of this shot was to make my partner seem smaller than his environment, given that it takes him a few seconds to walk from one side of the scene to another. This gives viewers the idea that the character in scene feels less significant in presence when compared to the big hallways he's traversing. Being able to see his whole body gives viewers a reference of size, contributing to the mentioned idea.
