Sound Story
This is our Foley audio clip along with the video of where the sounds came from. The process started off with how we could make a story using the environment around us, which at the time was school. Thus, our story would be a student packing up and walking to a classroom. We created this mostly with noises that come from common objects, like zippers, papers, and pencils to symbolize a school/work environment. We made sure to record very closely with our microphone to capture the best quality of sound in a secluded area to isolate the noise, and to make all the sounds loud so we could lower their volume in post.
The first attempt at editing was difficult because we had to find a decent video and audio software to splice the audio and visuals together, we. My partner did all of the editing so kudos to him!
Working in a group was really useful, as it was hard enough to do the action with one hand and record the audio with the other. It was also great working in a group because brainstorming was really important to the whole process, and it's a lot easier to plan with more than one head.
The process of Foley is a lot more difficult than it seems. Good Foley artists are able to match audio with visuals seamlessly.
