Final Project Movie Genre

For our final project, we must create an opening scene/ title sequence of a film that will be two minutes long.


We've decided on an opening scene for a horror film. We chose horror because for film rookies like ourselves, the horror genre seems easier to accomplish compared to sci-fi or action genres in terms of budget and time to film. We also believe that creating the feel of suspense sounds relatively easy by using jump-scares, eerie soundtracks, and unsettling imagery.

I pretty excited to work on this project because I think it would be a fun experience, especially when working with friends. Some things I would be concerned about is probably the props and timing, since we have to find a time we're all available in order to film the project and bring everything we need to make it happen. Outside of that concern, I think the project will be fun to put together as long as everyone does their part correctly.

Fight scenes Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is a very impressive movie, but one of it's most entertaining aspects are its action scenes! The f ight scenes involved many kind of shots, depending on the context , and the story telling from the action. Sound Story

       This is our Foley audio clip along with the video of where the sounds came from. The process started off with how we could make a story using the environment around us, which at the time was school. Thus, our story would be a student packing up and walking to a classroom. We created this mostly with noises that come from common objects, like zippers, papers, and pencils to symbolize a school/work environment. We made sure to record very closely with our microphone to capture the best quality of sound in a secluded area to isolate the noise, and to make all the sounds loud so we could lower their volume in post.      The first attempt at editing was difficult because we had to find a decent video and audio software to splice the audio and visuals together, we. Five Shot Video Post

This first shot is an extreme closeup of my partner. I held the camera very close to his face to focus on his eyes throughout the scene. The purpose of this shot is to emphasize the facial features and emotions the person in the video as he acts through the scene (i.e. gradually opening eyes and changing posture) This shot is a low angle shot of a person walking down the stairs. It was slightly difficult trying to capture the angle but it was manageable after a couple times. The purpose behind this shot is to distort size, making the viewer seem smaller than the subject swiftly moving down the stairs, and the subject appears to be moving quicker than they actually are due to the low angle. This is a medium-full shot of a person sitting on a bench. This was relatively easy, as the only obstruction was the glare from the sky.
