Main Character blog

    In this blogpost, I will be describing the main character in our upcoming film project. I will analyze character from both a physical and personality perspective.


    Physically, our protagonist will be quite average looking in our modern society. They will wear business casual and purposely look bland as a way to seem 'relatable' to the viewers in some fashion. Our protagonist's physical form specializes in being ordinary and not drawing any attention. The purpose behind this is to also give off the idea that nothing special or different is happening in this character's life, when in reality the start of the film is when things in the protagonist's average day will change.


    From a personality perspective, it can be easily matched with their physical because it too, is pretty bland. Not much can be seen about the personality since there is very little dialogue, but based on body language, the main character is fatigued from work and goes home with little to no energy. To him, this is just another day in his life, but this is used to advance the plot that eventually leads to a rather sinister surprise.

Fight scenes Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is a very impressive movie, but one of it's most entertaining aspects are its action scenes! The f ight scenes involved many kind of shots, depending on the context , and the story telling from the action. For example, whenever Shang-Chi pulls off an impressive stunt, or is locked in combat with a daunting foe, the movie utilized horizontal arc movement to show how the tide of the fight shifts from one character to another and the choreography involved in the scene. This really helps convey the energy and action in the scene, as everything, including the camera, is moving. Sound Story

       This is our Foley audio clip along with the video of where the sounds came from. The process started off with how we could make a story using the environment around us, which at the time was school. Thus, our story would be a student packing up and walking to a classroom. We created this mostly with noises that come from common objects, like zippers, papers, and pencils to symbolize a school/work environment. We made sure to record very closely with our microphone to capture the best quality of sound in a secluded area to isolate the noise, and to make all the sounds loud so we could lower their volume in post.      The first attempt at editing was difficult because we had to find a decent video and audio software to splice the audio and visuals together, we. Five Shot Video Post

This first shot is an extreme closeup of my partner. I held the camera very close to his face to focus on his eyes throughout the scene. The purpose of this shot is to emphasize the facial features and emotions the person in the video as he acts through the scene (i.e. gradually opening eyes and changing posture) This shot is a low angle shot of a person walking down the stairs. It was slightly difficult trying to capture the angle but it was manageable after a couple times. The purpose behind this shot is to distort size, making the viewer seem smaller than the subject swiftly moving down the stairs, and the subject appears to be moving quicker than they actually are due to the low angle. This is a medium-full shot of a person sitting on a bench. This was relatively easy, as the only obstruction was the glare from the sky.
