Color theory in film project

In this blog, I will be detailing the specific use of colors in our film and how it affects the mood.



    Everything in our film is fairly monochromatic, and especially favors dark or black colors. This is because we wanted to make the protagonist's life feel very boring and monotone, as well as have our suspicious character covering in the shadows to prevent limiting their identity. Another color tool we used was black & white representing evil and good respectively. This can be seen with the white clothes of the protagonist (good) and the dark clothes of stalker (bad), which also happens to correspond with their cars too. 



    The only time there are vivid colors is when the main character is watching TV in his house. This is subtle imagery that the TV is one of the only things that provide the protagonist with entertainment and isn't boring. Color scheme is very important for setting the mood of a scene, as colors carry emotions that can reflect onto viewers.

Fight scenes Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is a very impressive movie, but one of it's most entertaining aspects are its action scenes! The f ight scenes involved many kind of shots, depending on the context , and the story telling from the action. Sound Story

       This is our Foley audio clip along with the video of where the sounds came from. The process started off with how we could make a story using the environment around us, which at the time was school. Thus, our story would be a student packing up and walking to a classroom. We created this mostly with noises that come from common objects, like zippers, papers, and pencils to symbolize a school/work environment. We made sure to record very closely with our microphone to capture the best quality of sound in a secluded area to isolate the noise, and to make all the sounds loud so we could lower their volume in post.      The first attempt at editing was difficult because we had to find a decent video and audio software to splice the audio and visuals together, we. Five Shot Video Post

This first shot is an extreme closeup of my partner. I held the camera very close to his face to focus on his eyes throughout the scene. The purpose of this shot is to emphasize the facial features and emotions the person in the video as he acts through the scene (i.e. gradually opening eyes and changing posture) This shot is a low angle shot of a person walking down the stairs. It was slightly difficult trying to capture the angle but it was manageable after a couple times. The purpose behind this shot is to distort size, making the viewer seem smaller than the subject swiftly moving down the stairs, and the subject appears to be moving quicker than they actually are due to the low angle. This is a medium-full shot of a person sitting on a bench. This was relatively easy, as the only obstruction was the glare from the sky.
