Editing Post #2

    This blog post is an extension of the last one, involving extra details of how much time was spent on it, who worked on it, and what will we need to make sure these scenes are complete.




    Luckily for us, editing didn't actually take to long, but it was challenging. The editing process is not a long one if you know what you're looking for. The longest part of editing is the brainstorming aspect. In this case, it was trying to figure out how to put the clips together in a way that made sense and clipping some parts out to make time appropriate for the two minute mark of the film. This is especially important because we must fit every important scene and save space for future clips to stay below the required two minutes mark. 

    Everybody had a role in the editing of the film that helped make the process a lot quicker than it would be working by ourselves. Starting off with Sofia, she was the foundation of this process by using actual editing software and understanding how to use the tools provided. Sofia was best at putting ideas into actual material we could use, an essential part of editing. Daniel Yanes was the 'man with a plan', as he knew almost exactly how he wanted the film to look like. He would often proof-read these edits and made sure they made sense. I aided the editing process by helping Sofia with the long brainstorming part by fueling her with transition and editing ideas that would make the scene look good. We all played a big role in the editing of our film and it wouldn't look the same without all our creativity and input.


    There isn't much else we would like to add to make our edit of the film any better. We were clever enough to film extra long scenes and using different techniques so that we could choose from a variety of clips to use, adjusting it to our liking. The only thing we need to do next is shoot the rest of our film. When we get new clips for new scenes, we may have to adjust what we have already done to fit the narrative as we add in more scenes. Luckily for us, we have plenty of material to choose from and we have everything we need to continue our film.

Sound Story

       This is our Foley audio clip along with the video of where the sounds came from. The process started off with how we could make a story using the environment around us, which at the time was school. Thus, our story would be a student packing up and walking to a classroom. We created this mostly with noises that come from common objects, like zippers, papers, and pencils to symbolize a school/work environment. We made sure to record very closely with our microphone to capture the best quality of sound in a secluded area to isolate the noise, and to make all the sounds loud so we could lower their volume in post.      The first attempt at editing was difficult because we had to find a decent video and audio software to splice the audio and visuals together, we. Five Shot Video Post

This first shot is an extreme closeup of my partner. I held the camera very close to his face to focus on his eyes throughout the scene. The purpose of this shot is to emphasize the facial features and emotions the person in the video as he acts through the scene (i.e. gradually opening eyes and changing posture) This shot is a low angle shot of a person walking down the stairs. It was slightly difficult trying to capture the angle but it was manageable after a couple times. The purpose behind this shot is to distort size, making the viewer seem smaller than the subject swiftly moving down the stairs, and the subject appears to be moving quicker than they actually are due to the low angle. This is a medium-full shot of a person sitting on a bench. This was relatively easy, as the only obstruction was the glare from the sky.
