Equipment for Film Project

In this blog post, I will be detailing the equipment used to film our project.



    We weren't professionals or had a big budget, so we had to rely on what we had already. One of our partners, Sofia, had a GoPro but we ended up using her iPhone. We didn't use the GoPro because we didn't have the proper setup to have it function well and it didn't have a lot of battery. We tried using Daniel's phone, and then my phone, but we liked Sofia's phone because it had the best video and audio quality.



    For our editing software, we had a little trouble deciding what we should use but we decided to go with what was convenient. Daniel Yanes did some research on what software's to use, but quickly discovered how costly it could become, with initial fees for downloading, or monthly subscriptions, we didn't have the money for just one project so we ended up with Sofia's iMovie software that already came on her laptop. It proved to be just as useful and it worked out for us in the end since Sofia already had knowledge of how to use the program to achieve our creative desire for the film.

Fight scenes Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is a very impressive movie, but one of it's most entertaining aspects are its action scenes! Sound Story

       This is our Foley audio clip along with the video of where the sounds came from. The process started off with how we could make a story using the environment around us, which at the time was school. Thus, our story would be a student packing up and walking to a classroom. We created this mostly with noises that come from common objects, like zippers, papers, and pencils to symbolize a school/work environment. We made sure to record very closely with our microphone to capture the best quality of sound in a secluded area to isolate the noise, and to make all the sounds loud so we could lower their volume in post.      The first attempt at editing was difficult because we had to find a decent video and audio software to splice the audio and visuals together, we. Five Shot Video Post

This first shot is an extreme closeup of my partner. I held the camera very close to his face to focus on his eyes throughout the scene. The purpose of this shot is to emphasize the facial features and emotions the person in the video as he acts through the scene (i.e. gradually opening eyes and changing posture) This shot is a low angle shot of a person walking down the stairs. It was slightly difficult trying to capture the angle but it was manageable after a couple times. The purpose behind this shot is to distort size, making the viewer seem smaller than the subject swiftly moving down the stairs, and the subject appears to be moving quicker than they actually are due to the low angle. This is a medium-full shot of a person sitting on a bench. This was relatively easy, as the only obstruction was the glare from the sky.
