Representation in Film Project

 This blogpost will describe the representation shown in our film and what we did to show inclusion. 


    To be honest, representation was never brought up in our discussions of the film project. We never really considered tackling this social issue as the purpose of our film had nothing to do with any social issues. Consequentially, we do so happen to feature two Hispanic Americans as these are the only two actors in the film. Our film has nothing to do with race, stereotypes, religion, or anything of the sort. This could be a potential issue because now-a-days people tend to read too deeply between the lines and end up exacerbate some sort of social issue that wasn't even present to begin with. For example, people could think the scenario of a white person stalking a more Hispanic looking person is some reflection of modern society and all sorts of unintended jazz. 

    For full disclosure, this film project was made with no intent to represent anyone, and the only purpose of this film is to entertain an audience with it's plot and cinematics. I do not think the film needs to change in any way because no matter what changes we make to suit representation, it will not affect the film's purpose in any way, and we also do not show enough characters to even give a chance of diversifying the cast.

Fight scenes Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is a very impressive movie, but one of it's most entertaining aspects are its action scenes! Sound Story

       This is our Foley audio clip along with the video of where the sounds came from. The process started off with how we could make a story using the environment around us, which at the time was school. Thus, our story would be a student packing up and walking to a classroom. We created this mostly with noises that come from common objects, like zippers, papers, and pencils to symbolize a school/work environment. We made sure to record very closely with our microphone to capture the best quality of sound in a secluded area to isolate the noise, and to make all the sounds loud so we could lower their volume in post.      The first attempt at editing was difficult because we had to find a decent video and audio software to splice the audio and visuals together, we. Five Shot Video Post

This first shot is an extreme closeup of my partner. I held the camera very close to his face to focus on his eyes throughout the scene. The purpose of this shot is to emphasize the facial features and emotions the person in the video as he acts through the scene (i.e. gradually opening eyes and changing posture) This shot is a low angle shot of a person walking down the stairs. It was slightly difficult trying to capture the angle but it was manageable after a couple times. The purpose behind this shot is to distort size, making the viewer seem smaller than the subject swiftly moving down the stairs, and the subject appears to be moving quicker than they actually are due to the low angle. This is a medium-full shot of a person sitting on a bench. This was relatively easy, as the only obstruction was the glare from the sky.
