Secondary Character Analysis

 Like a previous post that analyzed the main character, this blog post will focus on the secondary, supporting character. 


    This character, played by me, is the ominous stalker that follows the main character back home. As seen, this character wears full black to blend in with darkness and limits identity. Some props that this character utilizes are a knife, car, and cake as comedic effect.

    Our stalker character suspiciously follows the main character around while hiding in the shadows and trying to be sneaky, which can be seen with both actions and body movement. The motivations of this character are well hidden until the climax towards the end of the title sequence, in which the stalker wields a knife as to backstab the main character, but ends up surprising him instead with a cake. The knife itself was a cake cutter, which goes to show that this character just being friendly and trying to surprise the main character for some sort of celebration, but did it in a fairly mysterious unorthodox method.


    It isn't until this point in the film where viewers get to understand that this character isn't the real antagonist of the actual film, and was just a teaser to set the mood and genre.

Fight scenes Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is a very impressive movie, but one of it's most entertaining aspects are its action scenes! The f ight scenes involved many kind of shots, depending on the context , and the story telling from the action. For example, whenever Shang-Chi pulls off an impressive stunt, or is locked in combat with a daunting foe, the movie utilized horizontal arc movement to show how the tide of the fight shifts from one character to another and the choreography involved in the scene. This really helps convey the energy and action in the scene, as everything, including the camera, is moving. Sound Story

       This is our Foley audio clip along with the video of where the sounds came from. The process started off with how we could make a story using the environment around us, which at the time was school. Thus, our story would be a student packing up and walking to a classroom. We created this mostly with noises that come from common objects, like zippers, papers, and pencils to symbolize a school/work environment. We made sure to record very closely with our microphone to capture the best quality of sound in a secluded area to isolate the noise, and to make all the sounds loud so we could lower their volume in post.      The first attempt at editing was difficult because we had to find a decent video and audio software to splice the audio and visuals together, we. Five Shot Video Post

This first shot is an extreme closeup of my partner. I held the camera very close to his face to focus on his eyes throughout the scene. The purpose of this shot is to emphasize the facial features and emotions the person in the video as he acts through the scene (i.e. gradually opening eyes and changing posture) This shot is a low angle shot of a person walking down the stairs. It was slightly difficult trying to capture the angle but it was manageable after a couple times. The purpose behind this shot is to distort size, making the viewer seem smaller than the subject swiftly moving down the stairs, and the subject appears to be moving quicker than they actually are due to the low angle. This is a medium-full shot of a person sitting on a bench. This was relatively easy, as the only obstruction was the glare from the sky.
